Answer: Sisterlocks are a specific type of micro-lock hairstyle created using a unique interlocking technique. They consist of small, uniform locks that are lightweight and highly versatile, designed to work with natural, textured hair. They offer a low-maintenance option for individuals who want to embrace their natural hair texture while still having a polished look.
Answer: The main difference is in the size and the installation method. Sisterlocks are much smaller and more uniform than traditional locs. While traditional locs may be created by twisting or palm-rolling, Sisterlocks are created using an interlocking technique that helps the locks form tightly and evenly. Sisterlocks are also lighter in weight compared to traditional locs, which can sometimes be heavier.
Answer: Sisterlocks work best on tightly coiled or textured hair, especially hair types 3c to 4c (in the curl pattern classification). However, they can also work for people with looser curls or waves, though the locks may be a bit finer or less defined. The installation process and lock formation may vary based on your natural curl pattern.
Answer: Some people experience discomfort or tenderness during and after the installation, especially if their scalp is sensitive and that person is tender headed. The process involves parting and interlocking small sections of hair, which can cause temporary tension on the scalp. However, any pain or discomfort should subside after a few days. Candi tends to be very gentle and light handed, but it does very by each person
Answer: The installation process can take anywhere from 12 to 24 hours or more, depending on the thickness and length of your hair. The process is usually done over several days, and it’s a detailed procedure that requires precision to ensure the locks are uniform and well-formed.
Answer: Sisterlocks generally need to be retightened every 4 to 6 weeks to maintain the integrity of the locks and prevent them from having extreme slippage, failing out, thinning, or breaking off. The retightening process involves interlocking the new growth at the base of each lock.
Answer: The cost of Sisterlocks can vary widely depending on location, the consultant’s experience, and your hair type/length. The initial installation typically ranges from $500 to $1,500 or more. Maintenance (retightening) appointments generally cost between $150 to $300, depending on how often you go and the consultant’s rates.
Answer: Yes, you can wash your hair, but you should use a mild, residue-free shampoo to avoid product buildup. Many people use clarifying shampoos or specialized Sisterlocks-approved products. It's important to avoid heavy creams that can cause buildup in the locks. You'll need to shampoo your sisterlocks every 1-2 weeks, by sectioning the hair into 12-16 sections, braiding them and placing a rubber band unto the folded over ends. Shampoo, then allow to air dry then take out the banded sections.
Answer: Yes, Sisterlocks can work on finer hair types, though the locks will be smaller and less dense. The interlocking technique used for Sisterlocks allows for flexible locking even on fine hair, but you may need to work closely with a certified consultant to make sure your locks hold properly.
Answer: Sisterlocks typically take about 12 months to 3 years to fully mature and lock. During this time, the locks will go through several stages, including the “baby lock” stage where the locks may appear loose or frizzy. As they mature, the locks will tighten and become more defined.
Answer: Sisterlocks are semi-permanent, meaning they can last for many years if properly maintained, but they are not necessarily permanent. If you ever want to remove your Sisterlocks, they can be taken out, although the process can be time-consuming. It's best to consult with a professional if you want to remove them to avoid damaging your hair.
Answer: Yes! Sisterlocks are highly versatile and can be styled in various ways. You can wear them loose, in updos, or even pull them into ponytails or buns. Many people also use accessories like beads, clips, or headbands to add flair to their look.
Answer: At home, your main responsibilities are to wash your hair regularly, maintain your scalp health, and avoid using heavy products that can cause buildup. It's also important to keep your locks clean, avoid scratching your scalp excessively, and moisturize your hair lightly with products recommended by your consultant.

Answer: Some potential downsides to consider are:
Yes! you can its best to have Candi professionally color your sisterlocks so that you don't use box dyes which have fillers, are very harsh and don't tend to achieve great results when not done properly. Please note that you may have some slippage after the process or gaps that may form later on down the line in the locks due to the locks loosening from the coloring process but this is normal when coloring locks.
Yes! You can all you need is 1.5 inches of new growth which is about 3 months of new growth, to start them. The technique is installed on the 1.5in of new growth and only about an inch into the relaxed hair and the ends are left loose for you to enjoy and style as you please. You can wear it curly, braided outs, flat iron the ends, or place it into a ponytail if you have the length to.
